Guardianship & Conservatorship

At Mazza + Niro we believe that protecting the vulnerable makes a more just society. When a loved one can no longer care for themselves or manage their finances, we help our clients get authority to step in and protect them. Guardianships give another person the ability to care for an incapacitated person by assisting with personal and health related needs. Conservatorships give another person the legal authority to make financial decisions, pay bills, collect debts, and manage estate related finances on behalf of an incapacitated person. We advise families and fiduciaries regarding guardianship and conservatorship matters and assist throughout the entire process.

Our guardianship and conservatorship services include:

  • Appointment of a Guardian and Conservator
  • Annual Reports of Guardian
  • Annual Accountings of Conservator
  • Contested Matters between families
  • Reliable and Transparent Legal Advice

Since 2017, Danny Mazza has served as one of a handful of attorneys the Court appoints as counsel and Statutory Representative (formerly known as Guardian ad Litem) for prospective wards (a “ward” is someone who is under a guardianship) in guardianship cases. In his role as Court Appointed Counsel, Danny Mazza advocates for the position of the proposed ward in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings before the Superior Court. In his capacity as Statutory Representative (formerly Guardian ad Litem), Danny acts to investigate solutions, protect, and advocate for the best interests of the incapacitated person. This appointment gives all Mazza + Niro clients added experience, proficiency, and familiarity with the probate court.
